Getting Around

Brunei public transportation system has gradually improved over the years. Now, getting aorund is relatively easy. Taxi and Bus services are available to visitors/passengers at most hotels, shopping centres and at the Brunei International Airport.

Taxis are located at the multi-storey carpark at Jalan Cator. Taxis can be hailed from the street or from Jalan Cator. Metered taxis also ply the airport-hotel routes exclusively. There is a surcharge fee for taxi rides from 11pm to 6am. For further Inquiries you can call the Land Transport Department at 2451979 during office hours.

Water taxis can be hailed from the numerous "docking ports" along the river banks of the Brunei River. Fares are negotiable. Water taxis are the most common-and cheapest-means of transportation. It is also the ideal way to view the Kampong Ayer (water village) up close.

Speedboats are used to travel to the Temburong District. The speedboats pick pessangers up at Kianggeh jetty around Jalan Residency in the capital. the service is available between 7.45am and 4pm daily. Fares are about $7 per person and $5 for the student.

Buses operate from 6.30am to 6pm with the Central Line Bus running every 15minutes and the Cirlce Line every 20minutes.Bus fares is only $1.00 and 50cents for the Students and as well as the senior citizen.

The Royal Brunei Airlines flies to more than 20 destinations in the world and has offices in many cities. RBA operates a fleet of aeroplanes comprising Boeings 737s, 757s,767s, as well as Airbus A320s and A319s. Brunei International Airport is the only airport in the country.


Ferry Services, for those who enjoy journeys by sea, you can reach Brunei by boat or ferry. The main ferry terminal in Brunei is the Serasa Ferry Terminal in Muara. You can board the ferries to go to the Malaysian Federal territory of Labuan, and other Malaysian town of Limbang, Lawas and Sundar. Ferry services start from 7.45am to 4pm. And the new services is, From Brunei to Menumbok and then you can go to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
